Joyce Wildlife Management Area, consists of nearly 35,000 acres of wetland consisting mainly of cypress-tupelo swamp and with a 500-acre freshwater marsh. It is administered by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. The original cypress forest was extensively logged in the early part of the century. The swamp boardwalk shown here is located in the northwest corner of the Joyce WMA on Highway 51 a few miles south of Ponchatoula.
