Bayou Sauvage National Wildlife Refuge at 23,000 acres is the largest urban wildlife refuge in the U. S.  It consists primarily of both fresh and brackish marshes within the city limits of New Orleans, most within hurricane protection levees. 

Information is available on the USF&WS website as well as others.

The best land access for viewing the wildlife and plants in the marsh is from the Ridge Trail Boardwalk.  A few maps are shown below, along with pictures.  More pictures will be posted from time to time.
